Importing from a spreadsheet
Bring your existing products and opening stock in from Excel, checked row by row.
If you're starting on TradeBroken with products already on your shelves, bring them in from a spreadsheet instead of typing each one. This is part of your opening balances: the stock you had when you started.
Only the owner can import.
1. Get the template#
Go to Opening balances → Import products and tap Download the template. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
2. Fill it in#
One row per product and location: if a product is on two shelves, give it two rows with the same SKU (only the location, quantity and cost are read from the second row).
- SKU and name for each product. A SKU you already have only adds stock to it.
- Category: created for you if it's new.
- Unit: one that exists, like
pc,kgorbag. - Type (optional): the kind of product, like
GROCERYorSPARE_PART. Empty means General. - Barcode (optional): must be unique in your shop and in the file.
- Location, quantity and unit cost: what's on that shelf and what it cost you.
3. Check, then save#
- Choose the file (.xlsx or .csv, up to 2,000 rows) and the date the stock is "as of".
- Tap Check without saving. You'll see how many products and stock lines it found, the total value, and any problems by row number.
- Fix the problems in your sheet and check again. Nothing is saved while there are problems.
- When it's clean, tap Save.
